Another great analysis, I'm seeing this a lot - "Algorithms do not just constrain influencers' behavior; they may also render popularity more important than quality or knowledge advancement..."
Oh for sure! The algorithm will be unlikely to favour the outsider voices or the edge cases which might provide useful content to the broader populace.
I like the real-world acknowledgement; it's a crazy fast paced, ever-changing world out there and this article acknowledges the digital/social context and broader territory that teachers often operate within. Of course the term real-world has its own complexities! I like the bit about the lack of established and emerging professional channels/opportunities, where motivated teachers might share their expertise and insights with their peers. 🤔
Agreed, I think I’m seeing the ‘real’ and ‘digital’ world distinction become maybe less relevant with the passing of generations. And you’re among many of the emergent channels and opportunities for teachers! What’s been appealing to you of late?
I like human-centred approaches to teaching that utilise technology. (A bit broad, possibly wishy-washy.) I also generally like monitoring supposed educational influencers; their voice, message, audience, persona, professional perspective (without getting too anthropological) specially to related to this thing called learning design
